WOMAN HAVE TWO WEAPONS IN LIFE. TEARS AND MAKEUP.
Jacqui Trinder, Owner, Artist Manager and Mentor of Accentuate Hair and Makeup, has extensive experience and is a well-respected working professional makeup artist and hair stylist. Jacqui obtained her I.M.A (International Makeup Association) qualification at London’s premier makeup college London School of Beauty and Makeup (as featured in British Vogue and Elle magazines). Jacqui was a regular artist at the M.A.C London Masterclasses held by the likes of James Malloy and Terry Barber. Jacqui also attended IMATS, the international trade show where she was privileged to gain knowledge from Rae Morris.
Jacqui returned home from working in London for 8 years to working on the M.A.C Events Team for South Africa and now works as a Hair and Makeup Artist in her hometown of Durban.
I pride myself on listening to what my clients want. I am not only a bridal hair and makeup artist in Durban, I travel to where my brides need me. I am therefore a mobile makeup artist in Durban. I have built up a fantastic reputation in the hair and makeup industry and I work really hard at maintaining that. I work with all skin tones and my experience at Africa Fashion Weeks and my vast makeup kit means I have the correct cosmetics and tools necessary to do both African Bridal Makeup and Indian Bridal Makeup.
During her time with M.A.C she was fortunate to work on various Africa Fashion Industry Fashion weeks. Mercedes Benz fashion weeks such as JHB, Cape Town and Durban as well as Africa Fashion week. Her biggest job to date being the Closing ceremony for the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. At the Olympics she worked as part of an International team of artists comprising of Tiffany Johnston, Victor Cembellin and under Senior Artist Nadine Luke.
Jacqui has worked with style gurus Trinny & Susannah from the BBC TV series What Not to Wear.
I travel Nationwide and Internationally. I pride myself in offering my clients professional service as a Hair and Makeup Artist. If you are looking for a makeup artist in Durban or worldwide, you have come to the right place. My core business are my brides. That and teaching are where my heart lies. I adore my brides and find nothing more exciting than coming up with the perfect look for their day. My brides become friends and are happy to refer me. That is the best thank you I can ever get!
As an artist she traveled to Berlin and attended Masterclasses by Top Industry Makeup Pros such as Terry Barber and Lynne Desnoyers and was part of an International Team of Makeup artists.
Having worked with the best and learnt from the best, enables her to transfer this skill to others in her own unique and memorable way.

WHO I AM AT HEART:
I am dedicated, hardworking, thorough, creative, passionate and inspired.
I give my all. Bursting with creative ideas and energy. I love socialising getting to know all sorts of people, learning new things from them and finding out about their lives.
I’m a hyper conversationalist and a business athlete.
I’m a gift giver and I love receiving gifts. Not such a huge fan of surprises. I’m a planner, a doer and a list maker. I’m mischievous (in a fun way)
Being an empath means I take on other peoples worries, emotions and sadness and I make it my own. Laughing and smiling are my go to “coping mechanisms”
Friends mean the world to me and I will give and forgive easily. That hasn’t always been the case!
I’m artsy, I admire all forms of art and can see beauty in the mundane.
I would choose books in bed over TV on the couch any day.
I don’t drink coffee, I love an English tea but my favourite thing is taking a long deep breath and breathing in the smell of freshly brewed coffee and seeing my friends enjoy it.
Mentoring and teaching people the hair and makeup skills as well as life lessons, I’ve learnt along the way is what makes me tick. Seeing them flourish, grow and reap the rewards of living a fulfilled life doing what you love every day is what gives me goosebumps. Being a Mommy to my two little kids makes my heart pump. Our little boy looks more like me than Daddy, but he is helpful, polite and kind just like my husband. Our little girl is feisty and knows just what she wants! My family mean the world to me.
I’m opinionated and strong willed and I refuse to give up something I believe strongly in. I stand up for what I believe is right and my love for God and family is my driving force in life.
I’m often asked (in fact daily) Why do I do this job? What lead me to picking this creative journey?
I do this job because I love meeting new people and learning more about their lives and seeing them flourish. I get such a joy out of art that the two elements of what I do for a living mesh perfectly. To see someone look at themselves in the mirror, their shoulders lift and they smile is a feeling that sticks with me long after they leave.
What is ‘this job’? My job title and more?
